These two sites presented an opportunity for a higher density development at the rear of two dilapidated cottages. Four executive townhouses were developed along a laneway at the back of the site. Council’s initial concerns about the attached forms, overhanging first floor balconies, and sub-optimal solar orientation for the existing dwellings were overcome through careful design and ongoing consultation with Council and neighbours.
The result was an enhanced yield outcome on the site, at the same time keeping Council on-side through the retention and renovation of the existing housing stock on the site.
