Updated Planning Regulations

Over the past 9 months or so the Victorian State Government has been undertaking a review of the Planning & Environment Regulations 2005.  Public submissions were called for in 2014 and a draft of the revised Regulations published in February 2015.

The final iteration of the revised Regulations is now available from the DTPLI website and will come into effect May 1, 2015.

Despite some positive inclusions being proposed in the February draft, including a reduction from 28 to 21 days for Council’s RFI timeframe (associated with permit applications that don’t require referral), very little change has eventually made it into the final version.

The vast majority of changes included in the revised Planning & Environment Regulations 2015 relate to processes on Council’s side and will not noticeably change the experience of permit applicants.
