New Zones Now in Force

By the time you read this we expect that the State Government (if true to their word) has introduced the proposed new zones to the Victorian Planning Provisions. The zone changes were due to be incorporated into the VPP on July 1 2013.

The changes will see the immediate deletion of the: Business 1, Business 2, Business 3; Business 4 and Business 5 Zones. All of which will be consolidated and replaced with the newly proposed Commercial 1 and Commercial 2 Zones.

The State Government also plans to delete the following zones from the VPP on June 30 2014: Residential 1 Zone, Residential 2 Zone  and Residential 3 Zone. Councils have until June 30 2014 to transition from the existing Residential 1-3 Zones to the new; Residential Growth, General Residential and Neighbourhood Residential Zones. If Councils do not complete the transition within this time all Residential 1-3 zones land will automatically convert to the General Residential Zone on June 30, 2014.

In addition, amendments to the following zones were expected to come into fruition on July 1, 2013:

  • Low Density Residential Zone
  • Mixed Use Zone
  • Township Zone
  • Rural Living Zone
  • Green Wedge Zone
  • Green Wedge A Zone
  • Rural Conservation Zone
  • Farming Zone
  • Rural Activity Zone
  • Industrial 1 Zone
  • Industrial 2 Zone
  • Industrial 3 Zone
